What is on this page
This page holds one single-sheet scan and one short document. Both are tonal studies of paper rather than images of anything written on it. There is no text, no mark and no drawing. What the eye finds is tone, grain, and the way light falls across a surface that has been handled.
Sheet scan
The sheet is one large image at 3508 by 4961 pixels, the shape of an A4 page at 300 dots per inch. A broad band of warm grey crosses it at an angle. The tone is darker toward the lower edge and lighter near the top, and a faint wave runs through the middle, like a fold that has been pressed flat. Fine grain covers the whole sheet and shows most clearly in the lighter areas.
Document of twelve pages
The document is a twelve-page PDF, one tonal page for each sheet. The pages are grey rather than colour, with a soft gradient from the head of each page to its foot. From page to page the gradient moves, so the document reads as a slow series rather than twelve copies. Some pages carry a faint light leak at one edge, and all of them have the same heavy grain, which thickens toward the shadows.
Files
The material on this page is the operator's own digitisation, made by the working group and not taken from any other source. It is offered for the same use as the rest of the library, on the terms set out on the licence page.
